The 6-day private Kilimanjaro climb via the Marangu Route begins with registration at Marangu Gate followed by a steady trek through lush rainforest to Mandara Hut. The route continues through moorland to Horombo Hut, where an acclimatization day improves summit success. Climbers then proceed across alpine desert terrain to Kibo Hut, the base camp for the summit attempt. With personalized support from an experienced mountain crew, climbers enjoy flexibility, safety, and comfort. The journey culminates in a midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak, followed by descent along the same route.
Drive from Moshi or Arusha to Marangu Gate for registration. Begin trekking through dense rainforest with chances to spot monkeys and birdlife. The trail gradually climbs to Mandara Hut.
After breakfast, continue the ascent leaving the rainforest and entering heath and moorland zones. The landscape opens up with views of Mawenzi Peak and Kibo.
Today is dedicated to acclimatization. Hike toward Mawenzi Ridge for altitude gain before returning to Horombo Hut. This helps improve summit success and allows better adaptation to high altitude conditions.
After breakfast, trek toward Lava Tower for acclimatization at higher altitude. After lunch, descend to Barranco Camp through the scenic Barranco Valley. This day follows the “climb high, sleep low” principle, aiding acclimatization. Dinner and overnight stay.
Around midnight, begin the summit ascent to Uhuru Peak via Gilman’s Point. After reaching the summit, descend back to Kibo Hut for rest and continue down to Horombo Hut for overnight stay.
Descend through moorland and rainforest zones back to Marangu Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi or Arusha, marking the end of your Kilimanjaro adventure.
