The 7 Days Lemosho Route is one of the most scenic ways to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, approaching the mountain from the western side through Londorossi Gate and continuing through four distinct ecological zones to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m.
The route starts on the quiet western slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro before crossing the Shira Plateau and joining the southern circuit toward the summit. It is known for its beautiful scenery, remote trails, gradual altitude gain, and excellent opportunities for acclimatization.
The minimum time recommended for the Lemosho Route is 6 days, but we strongly recommend taking 7 days for the climb. The extra day allows a more gradual ascent and gives your body additional time to adapt to the increasing altitude.
The 7 Days Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route covers approximately 46 km and passes through rainforest, moorland, the Shira Plateau, alpine desert, and the high-altitude summit area. After crossing the western side of Kilimanjaro, the trail reaches the Shira Plateau before continuing toward Lava Tower and descending to Barranco Valley, then through Karanga and Barafu before the final ascent to Uhuru Peak.
The package includes 2 nights in Moshi — one night before the trek and one night after completing the mountain climb.

You spend the night in Moshi and prepare for the 7 Days Lemosho Route trek.
We leave Moshi in the morning and drive toward Londorossi Gate (about four hours). At the gate you complete park entry procedures while our team processes the trekking permits.
After formalities, we continue by vehicle toward the Lemosho trailhead (about another hour). Lunch is served before the trek begins.
The first section of the 7 Days Lemosho Route passes through quiet, largely undisturbed forest. The trail gradually climbs through the Afromontane rainforest — the first ecological zone on the mountain.
After several hours of hiking we reach Big Tree Camp, where the mountain crew will have prepared your tents and evening meal.
After breakfast we continue through the upper forest before the vegetation becomes shorter and the landscape opens into the moorland zone.
The trail continues toward the Shira Plateau, one of the most distinctive sections of the Lemosho Route, with open views across the mountain and surrounding areas. We continue to Shira 2 Camp at 3,900m for the night.
Today we leave the Shira Plateau and climb gradually toward Lava Tower through dry, rocky alpine desert. We reach Lava Tower at 4,630m, stop for lunch, then descend toward Barranco Valley.
This section is important for acclimatization: you climb high during the day before sleeping lower at Barranco Camp. The approach to Barranco Valley is dramatic, with large volcanic formations and views of Kilimanjaro’s southern slopes.
After breakfast we climb the Barranco Wall. The trail requires steady scrambling; your guides assist on the steeper sections.
Above the wall, the trail continues across the southern slopes through valleys and ridges to Karanga Camp. The shorter day gives more time to rest and acclimatize.
We leave Karanga after breakfast and continue toward Barafu Camp on an increasingly rocky trail. Barafu is the final overnight camp before the summit attempt.
After arrival you rest, organize summit equipment, and receive a briefing from your guides. An early dinner is served before rest for the night climb.
The summit attempt begins at night. We leave Barafu and climb slowly toward the crater rim. After Stella Point we continue to Uhuru Peak at 5,895m, the highest point on Mount Kilimanjaro.
At the summit you celebrate and take photographs before descending the southern slopes to Mweka Camp for the night. This is the longest and most demanding day of the 7 Days Lemosho Route — knowing what to expect on Kilimanjaro summit day helps many climbers stay focused.
After breakfast we descend through the forest toward Mweka Gate. The trail becomes greener on the lower slopes. At the gate you complete exit procedures and receive your Kilimanjaro National Park summit certificate.
Our vehicle transfers you back to Moshi for your final night.
